Jones referred to Maltese as his favorite writer. Maltese either created or co-created such characters as Road Runner, Pepe Le Pew, Deputy Dog, Michigan J. Frog and the Duck Dodgers version of Daffy Duck. He wrote many Bugs Bunny cartoons such as the great "What's Opera Doc?" He was the lead writer who won an academy award for the Pepe Le Pew cartoon "For Scentamental Reasons." He wrote the song the "Michigan Rag." Michael Maltese should be a household name like the great Chuck Jones when it comes to the field of animation.
